Welcome to the ESF collaborative workspace
The European Social Forum is a permanent political and social process, punctuated with forum events. Its dynamics depend on building alternatives, proposals, projects, and campaigns between one forum and another. This site aims at supporting this free, open and responsible collective work, at the image of the Forum. It provides movements, networks and organisations with electronic tools for building and communicating their views, for initiating and developing collaborations, for constructing collective initiatives.
As precised in the Porto Alegre Charter of Principles, the ESF is not an organisation. Thus all information and documents published on this site are under the responsibility of their authors, who participate in this manner to the overall process transparency and must help all to build upon the Forum's dynamics. Unless other wise indicated, the contents are thus placed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license. Personal and organisation data are protected against abusive and uncontrolled use, and you can exert your legal right of access and rectification of information.
The "webproject" team designed this site and worked in a spirit of international cooperation, sharing and competence transfer, in relation with the ESF European Preparation Assembly. This site is entirely built on free software (see footer and credits).
What can you do on this site ?
- First register:
The "organisations" (this is a generic term to designate any collective entity) exist through participants that register individually. If the organisation to which you refer is already registered, you can join those who are already affiliated with it; if it is not yet registered, you can register it (provided you are qualified to do so) and invite other participants to join it.
- Exchange, discuss and cooperate:
Each organisation can exchange with others through "groups" to prepare activities or publish common proposals. You can create one or several groups and/or ask to join existing groups. Organisations and groups have each their own specific communication tools and a workspace in which you can edit texts, store images, create links to other sites and organise these contents in folders.
- Propose and act:
Organisations and groups can create "activity" folders and "proposal" folders. Your activities and proposals are thus durably installed in the social forum process and are easily accessible for other registered site users thanks to the search facilities.
Now, it is up to you to use this site for:
- Join or create the workspace(s) of your organisation(s)
- Find contacts depending on your affinities, interests and projects
- Exchange and have formal or informal discussions ; publicize the activities and proposals that have been elaborated within groups, on behalf of the organisation(s) that you are representing ; access a memory space for the ESF process.
The full set of activities submitted for the next ESF will be used by the organizers to establish the final programme.
The set of proposals constitutes a permanent interactive blackboard. You are invited to check it regularly and to contribute to the quality and relevance of its contents.
The full workspace will feed the living memory of the ESF.
Send questions on the site usage or function to the voluntary teams for each work language.
